Ranking your site can take a bit of work when you start out, but once you're ranking well the main thing you have to do is make sure you are getting the right kind of one way backlinks pointing at your site. Those are the main tasks involved in SEO, and you can learn how to do these things in a short time. In the Internet marketing arena, it's a mistake to just follow the crowd, instead of building your own brand or image. There is a lot of competition out there so you must stand alone if you hope to make money and have any longevity in the internet marketing world. You must come up with some sort of USP for your product. Your USP is your unique selling point and it makes customers realize they need to buy what you're offering and it will also let you know what they're wanting. For instance, if your competitors are selling their product at a certain price, you can sell your product at a lower price but with more features. You will find more success if you can be as different as possible. On the other hand, you don't want to be so different that people don't want what you're offering. You should always be conscious of what your customers desire and then provide that to them.

Don't choose a niche market that you don't like or you're not interested in.
