When you are new to Internet marketing, the field can seem very intimidating, especially if you don't possess any knowledge of the field. As you read through forums and articles, you'll discover all types of lists about what it takes to be the next big thing. Those lists likely all negate each other. One list will claim "patience" is the secret to becoming an IM success. Another will tell you that you have to be super smart about business if you want to be the next big thing. Nevertheless, others will state that creativity is the secret to wild and astounding success. And, as can be expected, there are going to be dozens of sales pages claiming they have the software or course to teach you how to be the next big thing.

The truth is that all of these things are important to your success (well, perhaps not all of those software packages, but the other stuff). You need to be persevering and smart about business and creative if you want to succeed. Naturally, if you are not able to intelligibly communicate with buyers and clients, none of the rest of it will basically matter.

There is more to effective communication than publishing an amazing sales page. All you need for that is the money to hire a gifted copywriter. Good communication is more than having a beautiful website with a lengthy FAQ page. An experienced web designer and writer can give you those. Good communication requires being good with interpersonal communication and in straightforward copy also. And how can you take care of that?

1. Reply to each e-mail you get in one day. This is not a joke. You don't have to write a long answer for every mail. You can simply let the other person know that you've read his email and will be getting back to him soon. When you do this, try including a reference to the other person's e-mail. This helps the person you email tell your mail apart from the autoresponders that other Internet marketers utilize.

2. Pick up the phone. Don't be a call screener. Whenever your telephone rings, answer it by the third ring. Do this even if you earnestly have no wish to talk to the person calling you. You'll be happy to find out that there is one exemption to this particular rule. You don't have to be anxious about being tied to your telephone aroudn the clock. Instead, specify clear business hours during which you will be available to talk on the phone. Indicate your business hours on your web site and mention them in your voice mail message. And, naturally, each person who leaves a message deserves a return call.

3. Follow up with people to make sure that they got your memos, emails, messages, etc. This will indicate to the person that you truly care about keeping in contact with them. It will help your clients and customers trust you further if you actually take the time to ask if they have any questions about your messages so that they can ask you to clear up anything they need clarified.
